Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, blogfans!
This is technically my second Halloween, but since I was only a day-and-a-half old last Halloween, this is kind of the first one that counts.
I got dressed up this afternoon - I'm a monkey!

(I'm not too fond of the head part, though.)

I'm supposed to be Abu the monkey, sidekick to Princess Jasmine.

After pictures, we went trick or treating - check Resli's blog for details on that!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Can you believe it? Today is my first birthday! I'm one year old!

Check it out - this is the sign that says so!

I know, it's unbelievable isn't it?

Time just flies when you're having fun and growing up.

Check back this weekend for pictures of my first party...

Greetings from Quebec, dear Lela

Mi querida Lelita-
I know you can't really understand geography and distance just yet, but I wanted to send you (and please share with your sister) a picture of where I am. My conference is taking place at Laval University (that's Université Laval, in French!).
From my hotel it's about a 30 minute walk to the university, but it's a lovely walk and I'm enjoying seeing the sights. I wish you were here, I think you'd like looking out from your stroller, too.
This is the entrance to the University.

There, now I feel a little less distant from you, now that you can see where I am, at least.
I hope you're all doing well. I miss you lots.
Just so you don't forget me, here's a picture of me waving to you and your sister.

Besitos, amor,
~Mami

A message for Lela, from Mami

Lela, amor, I tried 3 times to upload your video and it won't let me. I have to run out to the conference now, but I'll try again later. In the meantime, you can watch Resli's.... xoxo

UPDATE
Aquí está, por fin, aunque no es gran cosa después de tanto esperar...

Playing outside

This weekend we had some beautiful almost fall weather, so we all went to play in the back yard.

I was pretty excited to be out there.
I went on the swing. (Resli was next to me on her swing, too.)

And Daddy helped me down the slide.
I hung out on the ground a little too. I tasted a few leaves before they could stop me, but I think I'll stick to food.
And then Daddy showed me this great swinging trick.
It was a fun morning and I can't wait until we go play out there again.

Return of the Roseola!

Things are much easier with the second baby, because everyone knows a little better what to expect (except, of course, the second baby herself). My sister Resli had a couple bouts of Roseola in her first years, so Mami and Daddy recognized it in me pretty much right away. (OK, not exactly, they thought it was an allergic reaction to my antibiotics... but they figured it out eventually!)

It's hard to see the rash, but here's a look at my leg, where it's a bit more noticeable now.

For the most part though, I'm pretty happy and it doesn't seem to be bothering me too much.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

There's a lot of talk in my house lately about "birthdays". (I've got one coming up, just around the corner, you know!) It turns out, Daddy had one too. I didn't know that because I wasn't around for it last year, but we had a little party for him over the weekend, and I learned all about it.
I helped Daddy open his cards.

And I made sure he was happy.

And then they all had cake. Now, I hear that cake is yummy, but all I got was a little tiny taste of Grandma's.

Do you think on my birthday they'll let me have some of my own?

Preparing for game days

When the Gators play football, I get dressed up in my cheerleading outfit and cheer them on. I'm learning to do touchdown too. So far, it seems to be helping them, at least a little. . .

Lela the thrill seeker

My sister Resli has always been a little afraid of loud noises and things that scare you (even though she loves it when Mami jumps out from around the corner at her - she's silly like that), so she's never been a big fan of the jack-in-the-box.
I, on the other hand, am an intrepid thrill seeker. Ever since I discovered the jack-in-the-box the other day, I can't get enough of it. Sure, I get all nervous and sometimes I even back away, but I love when that cat pops up, and I want it over and over again!

(See, Resli covers her ears the whole time, but I just giggle!)

Baby food be gone!

Who needs baby food? NOT ME! I am no longer content to eat anything except what everyone else has on their plates.
This meal consisted of chicken, corn and watermelon, for example.

Yea, the spoon is really just for show, but I ate everything one way or another.

I like this becuase I don't fee left out at meal time anymore. (And, according to the experts, it's really good for me to be eating a variety of foods.) You all know of course that I want to be just like Resli...

I even need my own green cup, just like hers. (Yep, I can drink out of a straw already too.)
This makes Mami happy, as mealtimes are getting easier!

A stroller built for two

Yesterday Mami and Resli walked down to Grandma's house to come get me, and since we only had one stroller, Resli and I had to share on the way back. I sat in it and Resli rode on the front facing me.

We loved it and we both giggled at each other non-stop the whole way home!
