Ah, the joys of self feeding

I'm actually quite adept with a spoon and fork (if someone else puts the food in place of course), but I prefer the finger food approach.

Which also means, of course, that I end up with carrots in my hair, banana on my right cheek and a few crumbs by my left eye. But I'm still pretty cute, huh? :)

Time keeps on ticking ticking ticking...

... in to the future! And it seems like the months just race by. In the midst of Thanksgiving and all of that, I passed another birthmonthday - I'm 13 months old now!
Oooohhhh!

Like any good 13 month old, I'm always busy and always on the go.

OK, gotta go back to pretending to feed myself and my family now.

I just wanted to be sure you knew I was still growing. More from me soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yesterday was Thanksgiving (you knew that, didn't you?), and we had a great day.

I don't really remember my first Thanksgiving, but you can click here to see what I looked like back then. So anyway, yesterday we cooked some turkey, and Daddy paraded it around before we carved it up to eat. Yum yum!

Lots of my friends and family were here, too.

I hope you all had a great thankful Thanksgiving too, blog fans!

"Doggie!"

Nana and Uncle Adam came to visit for Thanksgiving, but so far I'm most excited about the doggie they brought with them - Ollie. I even say a version of "doggie", and something that might be considered a version of "perro" too.

I don't think she likes playing with me as much as I like playing with her, but I've had fun so far!

Where are all the posts?

I'm sure you're wondering why there are no recent blog posts here. Me too. Well, Mami has been really busy lately, and she was at a conference all weekend, so she hasn't had much time to do things like blog. She saw Ashyln and Maleah's mommy at the conference, though, and SHE managed to do some blogging. If you want to see about it, check here. Otherwise, be patient, there will be more blogs soon.

Testing out my communication skills

Earlier this week, I made a new friend named Katie. Katie is studying commuication development in children and wanted to practice a few of her techniques on me.
We played with animals, babies (I can say "baby"!) cheerios (yum!), blocks (I can stack four blocks!) and bubbles (way cool, I was fascinated!).

She didn't really tell my mom specifically how I did on my tests, but we're pretty sure I aced them. I'm all about communicating, you know. I say lots of words now, including "baby,", "Dada," "Bay-bee" (which with the right intonation is pretty clearly 'Resli'), "Dora," "gator," and "thank you"! They don't all sound like the way you'd say them maybe but we all know what I mean.

Just chillin'

This pink chair is really Resli's but she lets me share it, and I am getting much more enjoyment out of it than she ever has.
My favorite posture is this sideways position so I can sit on the arm.

But the most fun is sliding down and out.

And then climbing back up and doing it all over again!

We miss you, Grandpa

Grandpa and Eleanor were supposed to come visit this weekend, but their flight was cancelled and they couldn't make it. We're so sorry that we don't get to see them. But in their honor, Resli and I are wearing our dog and cat vests that Grandpa sent us a little while ago. See?

We hope to see you soon, guys!

We are the boys of old Florida

We're getting ready for our big game today, and I'm prepared for LOTS of touchdowns!

Be sure to check Resli's blog too, we're singing the fight song there.

Oso pardo, oso pardo, ¿qué ves ahí?

One of our favorite books is this "Brown Bear..." book by Bill Martin and Eric Carle, which we have in Spanish.

We love sitting in Daddy's lap to read it together.

Daddy does a really good job with the Spanish, too. Good job, Daddy!

This is how I play!

I'd love to be able to blame the majority of this mess on my big sister, but in all honesty it's pretty much all me.

Poor Resli gets stuck cleaning up most of the time, but that will change soon...

The trouble with cloth diapers

is their bulk.
They're so big it's sometimes hard to snap up the legs of overalls....

and the snaps hardly ever stay done!

As Nana pointed out, at least we live in a warm climate!

Happy, healthy and strong!

I had my one-year check-up with Dr. Grooms on Friday. We had to wait a while, but luckily they have fun toys in the waiting room.

Oh, and guess what? I HAVE SHOES! That helped pass the time too.

Then we got in to my room and I took my clothes off... and waited some more!

So I tried some climbing.

And some playing with Daddy.

And then we saw the doctor. I am very healthy! I weigh almost 22 pounds (that's 55th-60th percentile) and am 30 inches long (75th percentile). I didn't even freak out during my exam, at least not that much.
Until the shots. OUCH.
But Daddy was there to cuddle with me and make it all better.

And now I'm fine, and enjoying being such a happy healthy baby. No, scratch that. I'm a happy healthy toddler.

FishFace lives on

For whatever reason, I still like to make my fish face. It's pretty funny looking.

(Wow, check out the VIPLE ("visible panty line") that these cloth diapers give me!)

My birthday party

Today we had my first birthday party. I got all dressed up, as any birthday gal should, but with a twist. Today is the Florida ~ Georgia football game, so I had to show my gator spirit too. Thanks to my friend Amy at Go Baby Go, I have this adorable dress to wear.

A bunch of my friends came over and we sat and talked, laughed and ate some brunch.

And then there was cake.
Mami made my cake in the shape of a 1 (because, you know, I'm one year old now).
Daddy helped me blow out the candle.
And then they gave me my own piece! Yummy! It was really good, I can't believe I went a whole year without eating cake before!
And then I opened my cards and presents. Daddy and Resli were there to help me.
I got some neat toys and beautiful clothes, and I love all my cards. Most of all, I was happy to spend the morning with my friends. Thank you all. And happy first birthday to me!
