Allergy update

Well, my rash seems to just be getting worse. (The doctor warned us that it could get worse before it got better...)

I'm pretty uncomfortable. In fact, my legs have such bad hives that I can't really walk that well. And it seems like everything I do hurts or itches. I've been doing a lot of crying.

Add to that my new doozy of a cold and the 102+ fever I have, and, well, I'm not my usual happy self.
Mami and Resli tried to help me with an oatmeal bath.

Resli thought it was pretty funny. I was moderately amused, but still not too happy.

I'm trying to sleep now, but between the itching, the fever, the cough... well, it's not going all that well. I can't believe Mami has to go away to a conference tomorrow. :(

ALLERGIC

Yesterday I cam home from school with a few red spots on my arms and legs. Mami and Daddy weren't sure what it was but hoped it would get better during the night.
But this is what it looked like when I woke up.

Nope, not better.
So we headed off to see Dr. Grooms. I showed her how the spots itched and hurt.

She said I'm allergic to Amoxil, the drug I'm taking for my latest ear infection. Not allergic like Resli was with just what's known as a "drug reaction," but a real true full-blown allergic reaction with these hives and everything. So no more amoxicillin or penicillin or anything else in that family for me.
But the good news is that my ear looks better. For now... I've got yet another cold now, so we'll see what happens. It's a good thing we like our pediatrician so much because we sure do spend a lot of time there!

My first Purim

At school all this week we're celebrating Purim. Today's theme was "Sports Day," and we were supposed to dress up in our favorite sports team's colors. I refused to wear my cute gator dress with the orange ribbons because they kept rubbing my face, but we compromised on a gator shirt and socks.

Resli tried to make me wear necklaces, but I was NOT interested in that!

I was happy enough to shake my pom pom with Resli.

How's that for fun first thing on a Monday morning?!?

Stay tuned for more Purim updates throughout the week...

An afternoon with the butterflies

This afternoon Mami took me and Resli to the Butterfly Rainforest again. I was more interested in it this time than last time, and I couldn't wait to get in!

I spent a lot of time examining everything from the fish in the pond to the flowers and the butterflies.

Everytime a butterfly flitted by I shouted "bubbafie!" over and over and watched it soar away.

I got up close to one too, almost close enough to touch (which you're not supposed to do!), but it flew away.

(But when we went inside, Resli was sure to tell the man that worked there "My sister touched a flower!" - just in case I thought I could get away with anything!)
Then we went in to see the other stuff in the museum. Resli rolled around on the floor pretending to be Ariel (the mermaid), so I did too.

It was a great afternoon! Be sure to check Resli's blog for her version of events!

And you want me to give up an hour of sleep tonight?

Ever since I started daycare and had to give up my morning nap, I've been really tired, especially come lunch time. Sometimes I just get fussy, but today I could barely keep my eyes open, right there at the table with sandwich in hand!

OK, check that - I COULDN'T keep my eyes open at all!

I kept nodding off and falling forward, then jolting myself awake. Daddy had his hand out so I wouldn't hit the table. (Mami couldn't stop laughing.)

I took a 2 and 1/2 hour nap and had to be woken up, but I was as happy and jolly as could be afterwards. And am now sleeping soundly for another 11-hour night. (I'm a VERY good sleeper, and believe me, my parents are aware of how lucky they are in that respect!)
But you seriously expect me to "spring ahead" tonight and give up an hour of my precious sleep? We'll see how that goes over...

Saturday morning fun

Saturday mornings are just about my favorite times at home. This morning Daddy got out his guitar and played for me!

I did a little playing too, but it didn't quite sound the same.

Then I found this box of Resli's and thought it looked like a good place to cop a squat. I said "SIT" over and over as I was perching on here.

But then I got distracted by Resli's new favorite TV show, Super Why.

But whatever it is we do, I enjoy spending time with my family on Saturday mornings!

What happened to February 29th?!?

Hi blog fans-
Somebody must get my Mami a calendar! She was waiting and waiting for the 29th to take my 16-months-old pictures, but suddenly it was March. Silly February. But it's official, I am 16 months old now! And to celebrate, I've got another ear infection. :(

We'll have more pictures up soon!

I love my daddy

My daddy and I have so much fun together.
I love to give him hugs.

I often ask him where his hair is!

Do you think we look alike?

Another visit to see Dr. Grooms

Yesterday Resli and I both got to go see our pediatrician - me for my 15 month check-up and Resli for her 4 year old check up. As usual, we entertained ourselves in our own unique way.
For example, Resli played with Mami's phone and her crown, and I took my diaper off.

I also went over some notes with Mami.

Oops, what's that on the floor?!?

Resli, you might not want to walk over here in your bare feet...
Oh, but by the way, Resli and I are both as healthy as can be! She's at about 45th %ile for height and weight, and I'm about 85th for height and 75th for weight. We both got shots, but we got over it quickly. All in all, a pretty successful visit (excluding the incident on the floor of course)!

A message for cousin Atticus

In the mail the other day we received a great photo announcement about my cousin Atticus' birth. I absolutely LOVED it! I waved it around and yelled "Baby! Baby! Baby!" over and over, so mami got out the camera. Of course, then I refused to say "Baby" again. But I do have a short message for my cousin:

I can't wait to meet you, Atticus!
Love,
Lela

Exercising my vocabulary

I'm getting better at communicating every day - look and see!

Dr. Ward to the living room STAT!

Resli opened her birthday present from Nana a day early (don't worry, she had permission to do so). It was a doctor's kit and a white doctor's jacket that says "Dr. Ward"!!! By some genetic flaw inherent in Resli's biology, she immediately responded to that gift by wanting to play the patient. Yea, right... NOT ME! I put on her jacket and decided I could be Dr. Ward!

There's a stethoscope too, and it also fit me just fine. (Resli kept calling it the doctoscope, which I guess makes sense too.)

Then I had to 'check' my patient. She was 'very ill' as she said. I took her blood pressure.

And told her to get some rest and call me in the morning.
I'm off to go find someone who wants a shot!

Thanks, Nana (from both of us)!

It's just not the same without Daddy

I miss Daddy a lot, things just aren't the same without him. I couldn't even get excited about dinner tonight.

Nor did the pacifier do much to really calm me down.

The only thing that drew even half a smile was the mention of Daddy:

Come home soon, Daddy, we need you!
And Mami's about had it with all my whining! :)

We miss you already, Daddy!

Hi Daddy! I wanted to say "hi" and "bye" to you and blow you a kiss. But I also wanted to show you how I can feed myself with a fork! Maybe I've been doing this for a long time but you never noticed before - I look pretty good at it, don't I?

I miss you Daddy. Muah!

Poor Granddaddy!

Granddaddy fell down yesterday and broke his collarbone! We felt so sorry for him that we stopped by their house to give him kisses.

(I hate to think how much he actually had to maneuver to receive our hugs and kisses, ouch!)
Don't worry, Grandma got some loving too.

Granddaddy, we hope you feel better soon!

Fun outdoors

It's been a little chilly here, but it's still nice enough to have some fun in the fresh air every now and then. I just loving going outdoors!

And Daddy does too. His favorite game is to make me fly. I like it, it's sort of fun.

But the one who really loves it is Resli!
